WALKS IN THE NEW FOREST – 4 SCENIC ROUTES

The county of Hampshire is home to an abundance of walks in The New Forest, attracting a good deal of visitors each year seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
The New Forest National Park has so much to offer, with its towering trees, open moors and endless wildlife. It can be a maze if you haven’t scouted out your route before hand, there are endless trails to explore in the forest, each offering something different and each with plenty to see. All of these walks in the New Forest are in easy reach of nearby cities and towns such as Southampton, Bournemouth, Salisbury and 90 minutes by train from London.

THE ROUTES

The majority of this walk is made up of forest paths, trails and gravel tracks. Surrounded by panoramic views of the New Forest, this is a fantastic route for a quiet walk immersed in the beautiful Hampshire countryside.

This is an easy to navigate walk, just continue along the path from the starting point at Blackwater car park. For the shorter of the two walks, take the tall trees trail when you reach Rhinefield Road, around half way in to your walk.

BROCKENHURST

The neighbouring village of Brockenhurst is situated a short 7 minute drive from the route location. Brockenhurst is the largest village by population in the New Forest in Hampshire. The village boasts bundles of charm, character and history and is home to plenty of free roaming donkeys, deer and ponies.

THE ROUTE

The start of this walk can be located behind the The Happy Cheese county pub. The majority of this route is made up of forest paths, trails and tracks. You can also explore the village of Ashurst which is the starting point for this walk.

ASHURST

The village of Ashurst is the starting point for this route. The picturesque village is located on the edge of the New Forest National Park with heathlands, wetlands and woodlands to the east leading to dense forest surrounding the Beaulieu River.
