STRAWBERRY LINE

The Strawberry Line is a traffic-free path spanning Mid-Somerset from Clevedon to Shepton Mallet. The path partially follows the old Strawberry Line railway track and is the perfect location for both beginners and experienced cyclists. The path is popular with families seeking an alternative to congested and dangerous roads.

CHEDDAR GORGE

Discover one of Britain’s most breath-taking natural landmarks. Cheddar Gorge is an impressive limestone gorge situated  in the Mendip Hills, near the village of Cheddar in Somerset. The famous beauty spot is home to stunning caves and an imposing rock face popular with rock climbers and extreme adventurers.

CYCLE THE STRAWBERRY LINE TO CHEDDAR GORGE

Starting point: The Railway Inn Sandford, Somerset, BS25 5RA

The starting point for this route is the Thatchers Railway Inn, you can park along the road for free for the day and easily join The Strawberry Line to begin your cycle ride.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Cheddar Reservoir – An impressive 105-hectare circular artificial reservoir in the heart of the Somerset countryside. This point is the perfect location to stop for a lunch break.

Cheddar Gorge Ice Cream Parlour – Take a break and indulge in an ice cream, there are plenty of delicious flavours to choose form.

CHEDDAR GORGE WALK

The starting point for the Cheddar Gorge walk is located at Cufic Lane, the path is not easily detectable and easy to miss. The turning can be found on the opposite side of the road to The Original Cheddar Cheese shop and Café Gorge. Once you have located the path it is an easy to follow route and steep climb to the impressive view point.

THATCHERS CIDER TOUR

Book onto one of Thatchers guided tours to learn all about how they craft their ciders on Myrtle Farm in Somerset. The tour is around 1-2 hours long and you will get a fantastic insight into how the cider making process has changed over 100 years of cider making. Enjoy a meal and cider in Thatchers cider house and kitchen, the Railway Inn.
